VeChain Revamps GM NFT System: Lower Costs, New Tiers & Vote-to-Earn Rewards

VeChain Overhauls GM NFT System: Lower Costs, Higher Rewards, and a Focus on Participation

VeChain has officially completed a sweeping upgrade to its GM NFT system, following the successful community vote on the “Restoring the GM NFT System” proposal by Datab4Dishonor. This overhaul brings a more balanced, participation-driven structure to the ecosystem, with all changes now live across the platform.

Key Upgrades: Lower Fees & Fairer Distribution

One of the most user-friendly updates is a 50% reduction in GM NFT upgrade costs, making it significantly easier for users to progress through tiers. Early adopters who spent B3TR on upgrades before the overhaul have already been reimbursed—those funds have been applied toward future tier advancements.

Additionally, rewards have been restructured to better align with user engagement. Where 20% of B3TR emissions previously went to the Treasury, only 15% will now go there. The remaining 5% will fuel a newly established GM Rewards Pool, which benefits active voters holding GM NFTs of Moon tier or higher.

Vote to Earn, Not Just Hold

Passive gains are a thing of the past. GM Rewards Pool payouts now depend entirely on participation: the more proposals you vote on, and the higher your NFT tier, the more you earn. GM NFTs no longer enhance Vote2Earn rewards—these are now solely tied to your VOT3 token balance.

Node holders can still access free GM NFTs up to certain tiers, but there's a catch: to tap into rewards, node holders must actively vote in every cycle. Simply holding tokens or NFTs is no longer enough to qualify for ecosystem benefits.

Backward Compatibility & Early Donor Benefits

VeChain has ensured that all changes are applied retroactively. Early donors and long-term supporters aren’t left behind—the system now recognizes past contributions when calculating new tier placements and reward eligibility.

New NFT Tiers & Release Timeline Through 2025

VeChain also unveiled a roadmap for upcoming high-tier NFTs, each requiring substantial B3TR donations:

May – Jupiter Tier: 125,000 B3TR donation; free for Mjolnir and ThunderX node holders.

June – Saturn Tier: 250,000 B3TR donation; free for MjolnirX node holders.

August – Uranus Tier: 1,250,000 B3TR donation; no free upgrade options.

October – Neptune Tier: 2,500,000 B3TR donation; no free upgrade options.

December – Galaxy Tier: 12,500,000 B3TR donation; no free upgrade options.

These new tiers not only require larger contributions but also solidify the new structure where only active engagement earns ecosystem rewards.

Conclusion

With this overhaul, VeChain is moving firmly toward a model that rewards meaningful participation and long-term commitment. Whether you're a long-time supporter or just getting started, the path to higher-tier NFTs and real rewards is now clearer—and more accessible—than ever before.
